Put a Duvet Cover on with Minimum Effort by Rolling It Like a Burrito(via @Lifehacker) -

If you’ve ever tried to put a duvet cover onto a comforter (or duvet), you probably know a unique kind of bed-making frustration. This video shows what’s probably the simplest, easiest way to get that unwieldy comforter encased—no shaking required.

I come home from work to find this pretty thing waiting at my doorstep. Another painting from my momma to add to the collection.

Researchers at UCSD find way to cheaply produce a vaccine for malaria via algae. -

kingstonhonkers:

Seriously, this is crazy stuff. This is the foremost edge of medical engineering, right here. A vaccine for malaria has existed for a while, but it’s only been available to travelers, since it is so expensive to produce and distribute. This leaves out the 2 billion people living today at high risk of contracting malaria. However, scientists decided to use a common algae capable of reproducing complex proteins that resemble the proteins made by the malaria parasite, therefore eliciting an immune response by the body.

The algae is edible, or can be processed into other forms.

Human trials have not been conducted, but experiments done on rats have proven successful.

Seriously. Wiping out malaria from the face of the Earth is within reach.

I got a Kindle! For free!
My brother got one as a gift last year but he literally didn’t even open the box. I had mention to my mom that I wanted a Kindle (it was a random decision I made one day) and she noted (oh god, it’s like I’m typing meeting minutes) that my brother has a Kindle that he doesn’t use. And now it’s mine! Woohoooooo

One Year

Yesterday was my one year anniversary at my job.

I can’t believe I’ve been out of college and working for a year. As much a my job annoys me and frustrates me, I feel very blessed to have found a job in this economy so quickly after graduating. I love my coworkers and I love the fact that my office is a 5 minute walk away.

It has been hard getting used to a 40 hour work week, though. Some days I’m more exhausted after sitting behind a computer for 8 hours than when I’d be on campus for 12 hours, running between classes and giving tours. Living a sedentary lifestyle hasn’t been the best for my figure, but I’m trying to change that. There are days where I feel so old and the fact that I’ll be in this schedule for the next 20, 30 years scares the crap out of me. But then I remember I don’t have to do homework on the weekends or study for tests and that make me feel a little bit better.

I don’t know where I’ll be job wise a year from now, but for now, I’m happy to be an employed 22 year old with a 401K and health insurance. And the paid vacations are just the icing on the cake.
